June 11 – The LPD announced that its troop of bicycle cops is once again taking to the streets for the summer season. Until September 13, ten officers and a sergeant will patrol public spaces, parks, the river banks, as well as Laval’s bike paths. They ask that drivers and cyclists make the effort to share the roads responsibly and safely. Officers on two wheels can also be observed during public events, and citizens are invited to approach them to ask questions or share anecdotes about the goings-on in their neighbourhood. The LPD also reminds bike riders that a helmet can save them, 9 times out of 10, from severe head trauma in the case of a fall or collision with a vehicle.
