May 6– A 62-year-old man ended up in hospital and had to have his left leg amputated after being hit by a vehicle in a parking lot on Ave. Dumouchel in Chomedey Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. The driver of the car that hit the man was a 16-year-old without a driver’s license. The unfortunate situation began when a 15-year-old borrowed his mother’s car without permission, and had his 16-yearold friend drive the vehicle for a joy-ride. Upon their return, the younger teenager asked the older teen to re-park the car so that it wasn’t crooked. At that moment, the teen noticed the elderly pedestrian and yelled to his friend to watch out. The adolescent driver apparently panicked and stepped on the gas instead of the brakes, causing the car to run right into the man. He was transported to hospital, and doctors had no choice but to amputate the victim’s leg. The two teenagers, accompanied by their parents, met with police. They will likely face charges of reckless driving causing bodily harm.
